On January 1, 1935, J. J. Krebs, Sr. established a land surveying and engineering business in New Orleans as a sole proprietor. Mr. Krebs was an experienced and proficient engineer. However, his first love was land surveying, and although both engineering and surveying services were provided, the emphasis of the company was on land surveying.
In January 1948, John M. Krebs joined his father in the Partnership, and J. J. Krebs & Son was formed. The emphasis of the company remained on surveying.
In the 1950's, Joseph J. Krebs, Jr. and Guy F. LeMieux joined the Partnership and J. J. Krebs & Sons was formed. While the emphasis remained primarily on land surveying, the engineering services strengthened and became a larger factor in the business of the Partnership.
On January 2, 1965, the practice known as J. J. Krebs & Sons was incorporated. John M. Krebs assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer with J. J. Krebs, Sr. as Chairman. The engineering activities of the firm, as well as land planning, were under the direction of Joe Krebs and Guy LeMieux to meet the needs of land development clients. On April 1, 1965, Shelby P. LaSalle, Jr. joined the firm full-time in land development planning and designing and public works projects.
With the death of J. J. Krebs, Sr. in 1970, John Krebs became Chairman and Joe Krebs assumed the role as President and Chief Executive Officer, Guy F. LeMieux as Executive Vice President and Shelby P. LaSalle, Jr. as Vice President. Surveying remained a vital part of the business, but the engineering aspects assumed an equal role.
With the death of John Krebs in 1977, the management of the company passed to Joe Krebs and Guy LeMieux with Shelby P. LaSalle, Jr. as Executive Vice President. Surveying remained and a vital portion of the business of J. J. Krebs & Sons, Inc., but the engineering work received greater emphasis and over the ensuing years, J. J. Krebs & Sons, Inc. rose to a position of being the primary supplier of land surveying, engineering services and environmental permitting for land development in the Metropolitan New Orleans area.
On January 1, 1994, Krebs, LaSalle, LeMieux Consultants, Inc. (KLL) was formed. This new corporation was created to provide a new structure for the next century. On December 31, 1996, Joseph J. Krebs, Jr. retired. Guy F. LeMieux retired in 1999.
The changes to Krebs-LaSalle was a natural progression to better serve our clients and our employees. It is our intention to position ourselves to better service the needs of our clients and address their concerns in the environmental and ecological field. It is our intention to continue in this new century as a viable progressive entity prepared to meet the challenges and needs of our clients, consistent with the times, and to meet their needs at the lowest possible fee.
Our credo has not changed - in order to get work, all you need to do is do it better, faster, and cheaper than anyone else. We are eagerly approaching the future to service our clients. Krebs-LaSalle is where engineering and imagination converge. |
